Diversity and Inclusion

Summary Statement
The Thoracic Surgery Program Directors Association (TSDA) is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment where people from all backgrounds are accepted, celebrated and respected.

Culture
TSDA will cultivate a culture that encourages collaboration, flexibility and fairness where talents and differences of all members, staff and trainees are respected and valued.

Diversity
TSDA will include individuals with diverse perspectives and experience to enrich the experience for all. This will allow TSDA to more effectively address inequalities in the field of cardiothoracic surgery and in health care. This will ultimately improve the quality of members in the cardiothoracic surgery field, and in the delivery of health care.

Equity
TSDA members and leaders promise to guarantee fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all trainees, faculty, and staff and to identify and eliminate barriers that prevent full participation of minority groups.
